Malmö FF have sacked their head coach Miguel Ramirez after less than half a year in the job. Assistant coach Guillermo Molins led the team to a 5–2 win over Halmstad in the last match before the World Cup break. Many fans have called for the former star player to continue in the coaching role, but he himself declared that he currently lacks sufficient education for the job and therefore is not available. According to Expressen, Malmö FF have already contacted a coach who can take over when the team resumes training for the Allsvenskan restart later in the summer. It's about the 51-year-old Norwegian Eirik Horneland, who has previously coached Brann in his home country and also French S:t Etienne. Expressen states that Horneland is only details from reaching an agreement with the club on a contract. Malmö FF have had a number of poor results under Ramirez's leadership, and it's unclear if Horneland can improve the team's performance.
