Malmö FF has signed 16-year-old offensive midfielder/forward Stefan Tufegdzic from Icelandic Valur. The club has officially confirmed that Tufegdzic, who is the son of coach Srdjan Tufegdzic, joins the Swedish top-tier club and starts in MFF's academy. The 16-year-old leaves Valur Reykjavík after a season playing in the Icelandic league. He has previously also played for Östers IF and Sköve AIK in Sweden.
His father, Srdjan Tufegdzic, has had a long career in Swedish football as a coach. He was previously a coach at IFK Värnamo, where he was part of the coaching staff during this season. However, in early July he was sacked by the club. Now his son is moving to Sweden to develop in Malmö FF's system. Tufegdzic has written on his Instagram profile that he is happy to have signed with Malmö FF.
The club has not disclosed a contract fee, but it is expected that Tufegdzic will receive training in MFF's academy. He will get the chance to develop in Swedish elite football during a period where Malmö FF has focused on building up youth programs. Tufegdzic is one of several young players who have chosen to move to Sweden to develop in a big club.
