Malmö FF have completed the signing of Warren Kamanzi. The 25-year-old Norwegian right-back joins on a free transfer from French side Toulouse, signing a contract until the end of 2029.
The club, currently sixth in the Allsvenskan with 33 points from 22 games, acquires a player with extensive experience. Kamanzi made 100 appearances for Toulouse and was part of their French Cup-winning side in 2023. His contract with the French club had expired.
Versatility a key asset
Sporting director Philip Berglund highlighted the player's flexibility. "Warren is a player whose versatility gives us several different options." said Berglund.
Kamanzi has previously played for Norwegian clubs Tromsø, Strindheim IL and Rosenborgs BK. He has also represented the Norwegian U21 national team. During his time at Tromsø in 2022, he was coached by Gaute Helstrup, whom he credits as a key figure in his career development.
Proud of the move
The player himself expressed great pride in the move. "I am incredibly proud and grateful," said Kamanzi. He also mentioned Malmö FF's history and European matches against clubs like Chelsea and Real Madrid as attractive factors.
The reinforcement comes as the team prepares for their next fixture, a home match against Kalmar FF on October 11th. Kalmar currently sit 13th in the table. The team's last five results read LWDWW, with three wins, one draw and one loss.
Kamanzi, who can operate as both a defender and midfielder on the right flank, is viewed as a valuable asset to broaden the squad's options for the challenges ahead. His contract runs for the next three seasons.
