Malmo FF lost 0-5 to FC Copenhagen in the return leg of the Champions League qualifiers. After a 0-0 draw in the first leg, the conditions were clear for the return leg: the team that won on Tuesday would advance to the Champions League playoffs. Malmo FF's coach, Rydström, chose a defensively-minded starting lineup, but it didn't help against FC Copenhagen's attack. Rodrigo Huescas gave FC Copenhagen the lead in the 31st minute after sprinting past Busanello. Malmo FF's goalkeeper, Olsen, made several crucial saves, but couldn't prevent FC Copenhagen from extending their lead. In the 52nd minute, Elyounoussi headed in the 3-0 goal after FC Copenhagen had rolled up Malmo FF's defense. Malmo FF tried to mount a comeback, but it was too late. FC Copenhagen won 5-0 in the end and Malmo FF is now eliminated from the Champions League qualifiers. Malmo FF will now face Sigma Olomouc in the Europa League playoffs on August 21 and 28. A win would mean advancement to the Europa League, while a loss would mean Conference League play in the fall. Malmo FF's player, Taha Ali, was substituted in in the second half, but couldn't turn the game around. Malmo FF's defense was passive and FC Copenhagen was able to take advantage of it. Malmo FF now has a tough task ahead of them in the Europa League playoffs.
