Malmo FF started the Europa League with a loss at home to Ludogorets and in the next round, things went terribly wrong against Viktoria Plzen. Pontus Jansson was forced off early with a head injury and after that, Christiansen fell apart. MFF still had a post shot at 0-0, but when Lasse Berg Johnsen was sent off, the game was over.
