Malmö FF claimed three important points with a 4-1 victory over Örgryte IS at Eleda Stadion. The 19-year-old Serbian talent Jovan Milosavljević scored his first Allsvenskan goal in a match that ended the team's winless run at home since July.
An early lead
Malmö FF applied pressure from the start and created several dangerous chances. Daniel Gudjohnsen had two shots blocked before Otto Rosengren extended the lead to 2-0. Roughly ten minutes later, the third goal arrived. Örgryte IS were awarded a penalty converted by Tobias Sana, though expert Jens Fjellström questioned the decision. "A very dubious penalty," he said.
Milosavljević's moment
Jovan Milosavljević, who had his breakthrough in the match, made it 1-0 in the 58th minute following an assist from Theodor Lundbergh. In the fourth minute of added time, he put another ball in the net, though he was unsure if it would be recorded as his own. "I'm going home to sleep," the young striker said after the game. Bleon Kurtulus had earlier headed in the 3-1 goal from a corner.
The coaches' view
Gaute Helstrup, Malmö FF's coach, was pleased with the performance. "We played with good energy and the right attitude from start to finish," he stated. Örgryte IS's Andreas Holmberg was critical of his own team. "The first half wasn't good enough. We were too passive," he said. The Gothenburg side is now second from bottom in the league, four points from the qualification spots.
The table and looking ahead
The win means Malmö FF now sit fifth in the Allsvenskan with 33 points from 21 matches. The team has won three of its last five games. The next fixture is a home match against BK Häcken on October 18th, a side that currently sits in sixth place. Ahead of that match, Malmö FF will be without Anders Christiansen, Emmanuel Ekong, and Oscar Sjöstrand due to injuries.
